A scratchline is the first line of defense in the wild when firefighters arrive at a fire; it’s a rapid, immediate response to slow fire progression and buy time for more resources to arrive. With 30+ years of experience as a first responder in wildland fire, Brad has spent most of his life relying only on the skills and training of the people around him in the field when something goes wrong. Brad’s passion for building skills and confidence in others has always been a part of his work with professional first responders. He knows that his training can make it possible for anyone to have the skills that make an impact, when it matters most, in their everyday lives.

We are a family-run company that values hands-on education in order to prepare people around the community to intervene with the first, critical steps to help someone get to the care they need. Classic children’s TV host Mr. Rogers encouraged kids in the midst of tragedy to “look for the helpers.” We want to train you to be the helpers.
